The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
